San Francisco Crime Incidents

Darianne Lopez

Do you think you know a lot about recent crime in San Francisco?

The purpose of this project is to examine crimes in the San Francisco area within the 2018 year. The data used in this project comes from the dataset Police Department Incident Reports: 2018 found on the website https://datasf.org.

For this project I have created visualizations to help someone new to San Francisco crime data better understand SF's most occuring crimes and where they are occur. I am hoping that these visualizations will provide a great overview of a year's worth of data in San Francisco to give someone more insight into what types of crimes are more recorded. On this webpage you will find tabs at the top navigating you through the visualizations I have created. The "San Francisco Incidents" tab indicates which types of crimes were the most called in the most to the San Francisco Police Department in 2018. The "Incidents by Neighborhood" tab reveals a break-down of which neighborhoods had the most recorded crime in 2018. The "Data Processing" tab gives you more detail about the dataset I used and the data wrangling for each visualization. The "Feedback" page discusses the process of this webpage along with feedback I recieved from peers.
