This project is going to use oil pipeline accident data from the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, a sub-agency of the Department of Transportation, to create various data visualizations that explore the outsomes of these oil spills. Everyone has heard about the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, but curiously, once the story moved out of the news cycle, we did not heard about the consequences of this spill. The goal of this project is to utilize data visualizations to draw conclusions about the cost, severity, and frequency of oil spills and what that means for our environment.
