The Epidemic of Unemployment

Data and Processing:

Racial Trends & Unemployment

For my secondary visualization, all of the unemployment data can be found here through the United States Department of Labor: Bureau of Labor Satistics. The dataset for this visualization is not complicated at all, so there was not much aggregation or cleaning that went into it.

There was no downloadable file for the data, so I copied the data into a spreadsheet and then exported it as a CSV. The file looked like so:

          year,black,white,latino,asian,native,islander
          2003,10.8,5.2,7.7,6,10.5,7.7
          2004,10.4,4.8,7,4.4,9.6,6.1
          ...

Other than this, there wasn't anything additional that went into this dataset. It is 19 lines because the data stopped at 2017 rather than 2018, so it didn't reach the 20 year mark. Nevertheless, it still accomplishes the goal that I was aiming to accomplish.
