A Competitive Pokémon Examination

About

Pokémon is definitely one of, if not my favorite game series I've played to date. However, the competitive side of Pokémon has always been something that I haven't really dabbled in. As a younger kid I certainly didn't understand any of it, but even later I still never really got into playing it competitively, though this time not for lack of knowledge about the mechanics, but instead about the player's skill involved with battles. I chose this as my data set as both part of a series I'm incredibly interested in, but also as a way to try and explore a portion of that series I'm not as familiar with at a deeper level.

My name is Derrick Shiu, and I'm currently a senior Computer Science Major at USF, where I plan to graduate in Spring of 2019. I am a certified lifeguard, and I help my family with the West Coast Lion Dance Troupe, a Chinese lion dance group based out of Daly City. Video games are one of my favorite hobbies, and I'd love to find my way into that field after graduating.
